There are many natural remedies out there that help with acid reflux. I wanted to share with you some of the best tactics that helped me overcome my acid reflux. A little over a year ago, I had the worst acid reflux of my life. At one point, I thought I was choking on my own spit. Additionally, I had the constant urge to burp every ten minutes. After some hefty research on natural remedies and one trip to the urgent care, I decided to handle it head on.
The number one tactic that helped me get decrease my acid reflux was changing my diet. During my first episode with acid reflux, I turned to gluten-free. I also started to learn my triggers: green peppers, chocolate, and coffee. These are some of the most common triggers for acid reflux. I cannot say enough about throat coat tea and how it continues to help cure my acid reflux. The kind I drink is Traditional Medicinals and is Amazon has it for less than $5 a box. Throat tea contains marshmallow root, licorice root, cinnamon bark, slippery elm, and many other natural ingredients that coat your esophagus. To this day, I still resort to this tea when I feel acid reflux coming on. My grandpa was on Prilosec for two years before I introduced him to Throat coat tea. In his words, “You saved my life!” He no longer takes Prilosec 🙂 You can drink it two to three times a day before or after a meal is best.
Adding alkaline foods to your diet as well as drinking alkaline water is very beneficial to curing acid reflux. The reasons our bodies have acid reflux is due to too much acidity or too little. Our acidity level should ideal rest at a ph level of 7. I bought ph level strips to test my acidity levels and they fell below which led me to knowing that I need more alkaline in my system. Some of my favorite foods that have high alkaline properties are broccoli, almonds, and garlic. Yoga is also a wonderful tool for dealing with acid reflux. Yoga with Adriene offers multiple FREE Youtube videos on acid reflux. For best results, this should be in conjunction with some of the other remedies.
Aloe Vera Juice
This home remedy is one that I tried but did not like as much as the rest, mostly because of the taste. Pure aloe vera juice is very beneficial to the digestive track and is proven to help with acid reflux. Evidently, this remedy helps with healing the inflammation of the esophagus that offers from the acid reflux.

The best advice i can give is to try different remedies until you find for “fix.” However, out of all the remedies above, my number one choice is the Throat Coat Tea.
